From the NWS in Gray Maine – Just wanted you to be aware that we have scheduled our spring classes that will be held in May.   You can go to this link to take a look at the schedule and select the registration links to sign up.  We are going to offer an Advanced SKYWARN Spotter class this year for seasoned Weather Spotters.  This class will bypass a lot of the intro information and spend more time on content related to storm structure, prediction methods and identification/reporting procedures. There will only be one offering for this course and it will be the May 4th one.  If you are a relatively new spotter and you have only taken the winter focused track that is offered in the fall, we would like for you to take one of the one of the two New SKYWARN Spotter courses being offered as the summer and winter training tracks are quite different.  Even if you are a trained spotter and have taken the summer series before, but it has been quite a few years, you can still take the introduction course instead of the Advanced course, that is fine.  Thanks for your time and being a NWS Skywarn Weather Spotter.

After discussing the net and training schedules, the staff has decided to make some modifications, in order to enhance training by increasing the usage of skills being taught.
– The first Wednesday of the month voice net has been eliminated. Instead, we will leverage the Hillsborough County Training Net held each Monday going forward.
– Our monthly training session via Zoom will now be held on the fourth Wednesday of the month. Hillsborough County will host training on the second Wednesday and Greater Manchester will host training on the fourth Wednesday. Members are encouraged to attend both sessions if possible.
