NH ARES has had a long association with National Weather Service’s SKYWARN® program. Recently an initiative was launched to redefine our engagement to the program within NH ARES, with the naming of Scott Reynolds KC2JCB as ASEC.
During Monday’s February 23rd storm, Greater Manchester conducted weather nets to gather storm related data for the National Weather Service in Gray, ME. Information gathered during the nets such as snow accumulation, temperature, wind speed, wind direction, road conditions, utility status, and the exact location for the report was sent to the NWS in Gray, ME using a custom form within Winlink.
In total 44 observation reports were sent to the NWS in Gray, ME. Of those 18 came from NH, with GMARES accounting for 8 of the reports using Winlink.
